Philosophy, Mission, and Goals
PHILOSOPHY
The primary purpose of Santa Rosa Junior College is to provide educational opportunities for
diverse students in many di erent elds. Of principal educational importance is the development of intellectual curiosity, integrity, and accomplishment in an atmosphere of academic
freedom.
MISSION
Sonoma County Junior College Districts Mission is to promote student learning throughout
our diverse communities by increasing the knowledge, improving the skills and enhancing the
lives of those who participate in our programs and enroll in our courses. This mission a rms

to resolve the problem with the faculty
member, sta member, or administrator
who is the source of the complaint. If the
matter is not resolved at Step 1, then the
student may proceed to Step 2.
Step 2. Confer with the immediate supervisor of the person who is the source of
the complaint. If the complaint is about
an instructor, counselor, or librarian, the
immediate supervisor is the Department
Chair. If the department chair does not
resolve the matter, the student should
then confer with the Administrative
Dean who supervises that department. If
the complaint is about another employee of the college, the student should
contact that persons supervisor. If the
matter is not resolved, proceed to step 3.
Step 3. Confer with a Senior Administrator. The senior administrator is the Vice
President who supervises the program
or department where the complaint
originated. For example, if

4 . Attend Environmental Forum lectures
or register for the Environmental Forum
(ENVST 40) for 1 unit of credit.
5 . Register for courses in Natural Resources
Management, which study the conservation of natural resources (e.g., NRM 84, 85
and 88).
6 . Serve a semester-long internship with an
environmental organization in Sonoma
County, such as the Sierra Club, Zero Population Growth, or Sonoma County Conservation Action, and receive college credit for
participating in a project of environmental
consequence (CI 52, 0.5-3 units).

The Park and Recreation Management
Achievement Certificate is designed for

experience in natural resources, and who
