tentative itinerary for channel islands london day 1 departure evening departure on our flight for london unforgettable experience after our visit we will enjoy a traditional pub lunch day 2 london we fly to london and transfer to day 10 guernsey we ferry over to guernsey our hotel in the heart of the city the rest of the day is free until our welcome dinner the 2nd largest and most beautiful of the channel islands for a full day tour time permitting we will visit the town of st peter port to see its famous granite church known as the cathedral of the channel islands and see the medieval fortress of castle cornet overlooking the harbour day 3 london we begin our day with a panoramic sight-seeing tour of london no matter how many times you’ve taken this tour the guide always manages to point out something new and different afternoon at leisure your tour manager will be on hand to offer suggestions day 4 london a day at leisure to explore “everybody’s favourite city” on your own day 5 jersey we fly to jersey in the early afternoon and upon arrival we transfer to our hotel the rest of the day is at leisure day 6 walking tour we enjoy a guided walk through town visiting royal square wonderful victorian markets and the occupation tapestry at the maritime museum the afternoon is free to perhaps explore the town or stroll in the lovely park near our hotel day 7 jersey island orientation tour our full day tour of jersey begins with a drive up the coastal road for panoramic views of the other islands and france we will see mont orgueil castle built to defend against attacks from france in the 12th century and one of the island s old norman churches st brelade s church fisherman s chapel a 6th century monastic chapel out in the bay stands the 16th century elizabeth castle built on rocks and named after queen elizabeth i by sir walter raleigh when he was governor of the island day 8 at leisure a day at leisure there is so much to do and see on the island your tour manager will suggest and assist day 9 jersey war tunnels we tour this underground complex jersey s most evocative museum of the five years of enemy occupation during world war ii the video presentation and collection of memorabilia bring the island’s wartime experience to life a poignant and day 11 durrell wildlife we visit the durrell wildlife conservation trust founded by the celebrity naturalist gerald durrell this wildlife zoo is dedicated to saving threatened wildlife species from extinction we will have a guided tour of the zoo followed by some free time to explore on your own afternoon at leisure day 12 orchids and wine the channel islands are known for their beautiful orchids so this morning we visit the world famous eric young orchid foundation later we enjoy a vineyard tour and wine tasting at la mare vineyards they also make their own chocolate which we will sample and many types of jams and preserves all available in the winery shop day 13 tour to france we ferry over to france for a full-day tour our first glimpse of the french coast will be of the breathtaking stone walls which surround medieval st malo on our guided coach tour we visit the lovely seaside town of cancale followed by leisure time to explore the great walled city of st malo stroll on the beach and enjoy the many delightful french shops and galleries lunch is included today while in france day 14 at leisure a day at leisure this evening is our farewell dinner followed by a short drive to view gorey castle fully illuminated a spectacular sight day 15 home british airways takes us home please note excursions that involve a ferry trip are subject to weather conditions in the event that inclement weather forces us to cancel one of these tours a suitable alternative will be provided 23.
