Clinac Operations
For radiation therapists
Summary
The Clinac
accelerators have advanced clinical capabilities for the delivery of a variety of
radiotherapy treatments, including multi-portal wedge and non-wedged treatments,
clockwise and counterclockwise rotational treatments, large and small field treatments,
dynamic and enhanced dynamic wedge therapy, and total body irradiation with X rays.
Clinacs provide pulse-to-pulse beam control and stability for dynamic treatments,
integration of the multileaf collimator for dose contouring, and fast treatment times
through the use of auto field sequencing.
This course is a general overview of Clinac operations from a clinical perspective.
Through a combination of instruction and extensive hands-on lab time, students will learn
the basic clinical features and functions of the Clinac. Topics include:
Interlock matrix
Equipment safety
Control console
Dedicated keyboard
Exact couch
